Tutor Profiles

Deb Auden - CYF Tutor & Education Co-ordinator (Training days):  Deb Auden took the position of Education Coordinator for training days in January 2010 at the beginning of the  3-year rolling programme. She lives in Audley with her husband and reluctant, yogi Ant; her daughter Caer; a mad dog who likes to jump onto her yoga mat as soon as it is laid out on the floor; a crazy cat and 4 slightly loopy chickens. Amongst the chaos she loves to practice vinyasa flow yoga and at the moment one of her favourite yoga teachers is Eoin Finn.

Deb is a CYF teacher and tutor as well as holding a certificate in teaching children with Calm for Kids and a diploma in adult ed, DTTL’s. She has done CPD with many national and international teachers as well as with local CYF teachers. She loves story- telling and likes to weave in myths and legends of the yoga texts into her vinyasa flow classes and children’s yoga classes, which she teaches around Staffordshire and Cheshire.

As Education Coordinator for the training days and workshops she hopes that she brings a fresh and inspired outlook into the practice of yoga, as well as drawing from past teachers and methods, to bring a well rounded and integrated education to all who wish to join the adventure of becoming a yoga teacher.

Ange McAree -  CYF Tutor & Education Co-ordinator (Course andTutoring):
After several years of practising Yoga I joined the CYF in 2005 when I began my teacher training. I thoroughly enjoyed the course and qualified in Feb 2007.  I quickly began teaching Yoga for the Life Long Learning department of Newcastle Under Lyme College, where I gained some valued experience, before moving onto teaching adults with learning disabilities and foundation studies. This gave me the incentive to train as a Yoga Therapist, both with The British School of Yoga and with Jo Manuel at The Special Yoga Centre in London.

I became a tutor on the CYF course after joining the committee in 2009, and became the Ed Co for Course work and Tutoring in 2011.

I am a qualified teacher in Lifelong learning with a DTLLS diploma and a teacher member of the Institute for Learning, a registered Yoga teacher with the IYN, and an Holistic therapist. I share my time between teaching Yoga, Foundation studies and Reiki, and am also currently studying for a HNC in Sport, Health, Exercise and Fitness, which I hope will help to extend my knowledge and open up further opportunities to pass on the message of Yoga.

Lea Harding-Garzia - CYF Tutor & Secretary for the CYF:  Lea has been been involved with the CYF since it was formed in 1987 and was at the 'foundation' meeting.  She has been teaching regularly for 33 years and has specialised in teaching people with Parkinsons (for the PD Society) for 15 years.  Yoga has been found to be beneficial in this area, resulting in lessening of the tremor during relaxation, more strength, flexibility and a general feeling of confidence and wellbeing.

Barbara Tomkinson: CYF Tutor & Web Co-ordinator: Barbara went to her first yoga class when she was 16 and discovered the CYF in her early thirties. She has been a member of the CYF since 1990 (or thereabouts!) and qualified as a CYF teacher in 1996. She became a tutor in 2003 and took over the position of Education Co-ordinator for Training Days in 2007, during which time the CYF teacher training course was re-structured to become the well co-ordinated three-year course it is today. She held the position until 2010 before handing over to Deb Auden and is now Web Co-ordinator and pleased to still be an active member of the CYF.
